His number includes suicides (perhaps more than half the total), accidental deaths, and those killed by the police. How smart is the repetition--by you--of statistics that you don't check. And you run a newspaper, with all those layers of checking. When I posted items to my friends I did a bit of checking first, or at least warned that I hadn't checked the number.

Duh pretty much covered it, but to supplement his response Hudak has been claiming for months that Tierney will not debate him, called all sorts of names and generally ranted and raved about having debates. He has done this in person, in videos and on his Facebook sites.

Then his primary opponent asks for a debate and he refuses.

I'm guessing IndependentThinking is referring to the whole "I'm the favored candidate in the primary, so I'm going to dismiss the little guy's calls for a debate, and then I'm going to demand that the incumbent debate me in the general election, even though I'm now the little guy" thing. It's hypocrisy 101, in my book.

Hopefully the state will recover some of the sales tax dollars lost, with payroll taxes dollars that will be generated by retailers adding extra staff to handle the crowds. Putting people to work is a great "buy-product" of this two day inticement. I'm off to the mall..

I truly hope the Governor holds his ground, as I too believe racinos will only dilute the potential revenues and produce a mediocre success to gaming in Massachusetts. I think most Massachusetts citizens desire and deserve a classier approach, and not the undesirable pitfalls that a betting dive produces. Dining, entertainment, recreational gaming and convention opportunities will certainly create more jobs and make it a destination attracting visitors to any of the three locations; boosting the economy of the all the communities that surround a resort casino. Revenue sharing at it’s best.

When I was a kid my older brother and I delivered the Salem News (among other newspapers) to the Salem Jail, Parker Brother's and HP Hood. Among our Christmas tips one year (none from the jail as you can imagine) the folks at Parker Brothers gave us a special edition Monopoly game housed in a custom mahogany case. An amazing and generous gift we have always remembered.

It is odd that there has been this big spike in right wing idiocy coming out of Arizona though. Texas has a higher background level of crazy and right now Arizona is like a supernova taking the attention. I wonder how long it will last.

Actually it isn’t that strange. Arizona has been moving gradually towards the middle over the last twenty years. The population has doubled in that time and a big part of that spike wasn’t old retirees who tended to be conservative, but a lot of younger families moving from blue states, etc. In 2008 McCain only received 53.4% of the vote here in Arizona, his sixth lowest vote total among the states he won. Now think about that, his home state was one of his least supportive states. Had McCain been from Texas, Florida, etc., he likely would have lost Arizona.

This state has a long history of very conservative, often racist politics and the supporters of those policies aren’t happy that they are consistently losing ground to moderates and liberals (simply termed as liberals in their tirades). Because of how the state legislature is set up conservatives still have a major majority in both houses but, when Napolitano was governor, she vetoed a lot of their stupidity. In fact she set the record for vetoes in the history of the state. You take her away, bring in Brewer who is a wing-nut’s wing-nut, and you see incredibly stupid legislation that was shut down by a reasonable governor make it out of the state house. At the same time you see an increase in non-conservative population as well as an increase in non-white population and the far white err, right is freaking out.

How many illegals should we let in? What's your number? I feel that if you here illegally you should go home and get in line. We should fine all employers $5000, first offence. $25000 second offence, third go directly to jail. We can't continue to allow peopleto break the law. The president should be impeached for not upholding the law. If I get break a law do I get the same treatment as the illegals? You can bet the answer is NO. Why do american citizens get treated differently than illegals? They are not immergrents they are illegal immergrents, there is a difference

Arizona should just open its border, let everyone pass through to all the other states on its periphery, offer no services, not allow anyone to stay and then see what happens when California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico start screaming, now that they have become the defacto border. It won't be pretty. And that will really expose the hypocrisy of the 'do nothing" Federal Government.
